Real Estate Sales/Management/Development at J.A. Scardilli Real Estate, Inc., Absecon, NJ (1971-75)

After graduation from college, I went to work for my father’s real estate sales business selling residential real estate. I eventually learned that my pay, in the form of contingency commissions was not earned until the check cleared the bank. So, instead of using my real estate skills for others, I began to rehab and sell houses that my father picked up at Sheriff Sales or where a listed property was in pre-foreclosure and my father offered a “short sale” deal to the owner. My construction work eventually branched out to building modular homes on land our family owned and new construction, including a major expansion of our office.
