Interim Staff Assistant, Assistant Secretary for Consumer Affairs at U.S. Department Of Housing & Urban Development (1977)

After the 1976 Presidential Inaugural, I was given this interim appointment, during the Transition. In my first job in government, I drafted briefing papers and coordinated briefings for both the temporary and appointed Assistant Secretaries.

As part of a team of similar temporary appointees, I researched and interviewed candidates for the appointed Regional Administrator position in Los Angeles, including interviews with Willie Brown, the Speaker of the California House and Diane Feinstein, then Mayor of San Francisco and now a U.S. Senator.
