Appraiser/Consultant at J.A. Scardilli Real Estate, Inc., Galloway, NJ (1980-82)

Returning to my father’s real estate business, I began performing real estate appraisals, at first under his direction then on my own, quickly progressing from single-family homes to farms, motels and developable land. While concurrently completing my Masters degree in Urban Planning, I prepared market and feasibility studies for proposed high-rise developments in Atlantic City, including the Flagship Resort on the Atlantic City Inlet.

My prior position as the City’s Housing Planner gave me the opportunity to help create a non-profit entity to preserve housing in another AC Inlet high-rise, now known as the Waterfront Apartments. That work included creation of a consulting report used by the City’s Washington DC attorneys to negotiate a long-term agreement between HUD and the non-profit to allow existing residents to remain after the building was sold.
